Job registration requirement – am I concerned?

On July 1, 2018 the job registration requirement is in power. It applies only for types of occupation with a trigger level of 8 % unemployment. As of January 1, 2020 the trigger level will be reduced to 5 %.

Centrepiece of the new law is that jobseekers registered with an RAV get a five day information advantage vis-à-vis all other jobseekers.

Which occupation types are affected?

The SECO publishes this list on www.arbeit.swiss. There you can also find a check-up, where you can check if the exact job indication you have is affected by one of the types of occupation involved.

When can you wave the job registration requirement?

You can waive a registration in the following three cases:

  1. The job is given to a person, who already works for more than six months in your firm.
  2. The job is filled by a relative of a person authorized to sign in your firm.

If you register online on arbeit.swiss. The registration is also possible by Email, Phone or in written. The allocation to the RAV in charge is then done automatically. Within the state of Zug the contact point economy will help and inform during the first months. Questions can be posted at economy@zg.ch .
