Fitness and social sustainability - first experiences
Has our project for stair-climbing and raising money worked (see article in archives)? What were the effects? What are the results?
It works! In the first six months of our project, 587 tokens were collected. Every token collected means that either an employee or a client climbed the 4 floor or 5 stories to our offices. This is an average of 90 steps per ascent and means that the stairs have been climbed almost 100 times per month (instead of using the elevator). With each step measuring 18.5 centimeters this also means that since the beginning of the project almost 10,000 meters (9,764 to be exact) have been scaled. Altogether we have climbed higher than Mount Everest (8848m). Furthermore this means that 587 Swiss francs have been raised for a social project. Within due course a reasonable sum of money will be collected to relieve distress somewhere. All round a successful idea, giving pleasure to all participants, increasing their fitness and even saving energy by not using the elevator.
